From involvement in drafting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, to leading the faith caucus to establish the International Criminal Court, to overcoming UN apathy about sexual orientation & gender identity issues, the Unitarian Universalist Office at the United Nations has a long history of providing strong leadership in all aspects of human rights at a policy level. How we work The Unitarian Universalist Office at the United Nations is a non-governmental organization in association with the United Nations Department of Global Communications and in consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. The UU Office at the UN promotes the goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all, as reflected in the United Nations Charter. Through targeted education, advocacy, and outreach, we engage Unitarian Universalists in support of international cooperation and the work of the UN. Support this critical work. Deepen your knowledge Involvement Opportunities As we work for human rights and social justice on local and global scales, the UU Office at the UN has opportunities for people of all ages to be involved and take action. Join our global social justice movement! Get Involved Intergenerational Spring Seminar Youth and adults from all over North America gather annually to learn about and take action to address international human rights and social justice issues at the UU Office at the UN's Intergenerational Spring Seminar. Intergenerational Action Become an Envoy Youth and adults: serve as a representative in your congregation for the UU Office at the UN! Lead local action and spread the word about work being done to promote human rights and social justice at the UN in the name of Unitarian Universalism. Embody Connection UN Sunday Plan and host a UN Sunday service at your congregation. The UU Office at the UN’s planning resource packet will help you create a service focused on this year’s UN Sunday theme: Advancing Just Migration for All. Spread Your Passion Every Child is Our Child Through the Every Child is Our Child program, the UU Office at the UN partners with the Queen Mothers Association in Eastern Ghana to provide education and health care for children in the region who have been orphaned or made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS. Support Education Internships Learn about the United Nations and work in support of its efforts to eradicate injustice and promote human rights around the world. Our internship is available for passionate and creative UUs and non-UUs age 18+.
